Irek Stawiczny (52) is a Polish born, Australian educated, engineer and entrepreneur who resides between Australia, Monaco, UAE, Poland and Canada.

After emigrating to Australia at age 17, lrek completed his High School education in Brisbane and in 1994 graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from Central Queensland University, Australia.

lrek started his professional career working at various mines across Australia. After gaining his engineering, managerial and latest mining systems experience, he joined a leading international engineering company Hatch. As a Hatch senior manager, lrek was involved in a large Diamond Mining Optimisation Program with De Beers in Africa. Later he was involved in a Global business Systems implementation program which involved 53 mining and oil & gas operations for the world's largest mining company BHP, overseeing a large part of the $550M corporate and regional budget.

After a successful career with Hatch, in 200 l , lrek established GMC Global Pty. Ltd., a management consultancy business focusing on the provision of management consulting services to the global mining and oil & gas industries. GMC's clients included the largest resources corporations including BHP, Exxon Mobil, Shell, Rio Tinto, Conoco Philips, Barrick Gold, Glencore, and Newmont Gold to name a few. The GMC business operated across all major commodities including gold, diamonds, iron ore, uranium, oil, gas. nickel, coal, copper, and lithium. GMC was partnering globally with KPMG, Baker and Mackenzie, Accenture, Bain Consulting etc. on numerous projects, often by our clients' recommendations.

lrek was nominated by Ernst and Young for Entrepreneur of the year in 2010.

 

In 20 l l, after a successful expansion of the GMC business beyond Australia to North America, Europe, Asia. and South America, achieving $55M consulting revenue, whilst employing 250 personnel worldwide, the business was acquired by a well-renowned Global Engineering company - SMEC.

SMEC, the iconic Australian Snowy Mountain Engineering Corporation (one of 17 large-scale companies interested in acquiring GMC), allowed GMC Global to accelerate its growth worldwide expanding to Africa and various Asian regions. lrek concluded his senior executive (CEO and COO) appointment with SMEC in 2013 and 'retired' from the company at the age of 43.

 

After a sabbatical period, during which lrek focused on his family, passion for fishing. investments in international technology companies and philanthropy, he re-entered the business world in 2016 with a focus on Europe, Canada, and Australian regions. He is currently involved in multiple diversified global business ventures, six children's charities, Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and kids sporting club foundations. His business passion is to connect Australian, UAE, European and North American businesses to achieve sustainable business growth based on global diversification. His efforts are encouraged by Australian government and various European governments which resulted in lrek being invited to assist with the development of the Australia - Europe Free Trade Agreement as an external advisor. lrek is also strategically advising three international consultancies focusing on leadership and Global Mining Sector.

 

lrek is the proud father of his two daughters Isabella Rose Maria ( l 5) and Angel Sofia Maria ( 6). He is an avid sports fan, discovering the world of art and is yet to catch the fish of his lifetime.
